Klarinda Snow is the innkeeper of a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast in Windy Pines, Idaho. Guests come to Mistletoe Manor to escape from their troubles while enjoying the scenic mountain town.
When all seven rooms of the inn get booked on a Tuesday night in December, Klarinda is excited about having so much business, but a little confused as well. After all, her inn normally isn’t exactly a destination hotspot.
The guests have barely settled in before strange things begin happening. Is this the most accident prone group of travelers ever, or is someone out for revenge?
Murder at Mistletoe Manor is a mystery novella by Holly Tierney-Bedord, given to me for an honest review by Hello ChickLit.
Right from the first page, I was standing excitedly in the Manor foyer, waiting for Klarinda Snow, owner, to let Myrtle light a fire and order a Christmas tree. What is a young single woman doing in the middle of nowhere running a rundown Hotel? Well, life can just be like that sometimes. So when the bookings diary reveals a group of separate individuals all randomly checking in for a Tuesday night stay, Klarinda is suspicious but also highly grateful. Fantasies of doing up the guest rooms and having some professional marketing wash over her, so that when an envelope of a lot of money is delivered in lieu of the bookings, who is she to turn it and the guests away.
On that fateful day, the games begin. A classic fun and enjoyable whodunnit, with plenty of snow and added flirtations to keep the story alive. What unfurls is an outline of smalltown American life, living remotely, and how people around you truly count. I adored this novella – a perfect Sunday afternoon read, all “Christmassy” and “murdery”, in fact just good old fashioned excitement. Get your copy today!
