The Great Gatsby, written in 1925, is a novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century, and is remembered for his four novels inspired by the Jazz Age of the 1920s. His first success came in 1920, with This Side of Paradise, a re-writing of a former work. He was most notably friends with Ernest Hemingway, who thought his wife Zelda ‘insane’, and Fitzgerald’s writing of short stories to keep his wife in her opulent lifestyle, a mere sell-out. The Great Gatsby did not become popular until after Fitzgerald’s death. The Love of the Last Tycoon was published posthumously.

I am so pleased to have acquired this much coveted edition.
